6. You know things are bad in Ohio when
you move from there to South Dakota and the economic situation drastically improves! A lifelong Ohioan, I moved from the Cleveland area to Rapid City, SD, last summer, and, with the exception of having to leave my son and family and friends, have never, ever regretted it. The economy here and in most of the state is far, far better than in Ohio, it's like a different planet. Even the political situation is a little better, I actually have a Dem senator and the state's lone congressional rep is a Dem and people here don't tolerate the extremist repubs very well (I think the abortion ban will be overturned at the election booth next month, people are really angry about it).

It takes months of searching in Ohio just to find an okay job and, in desperation, you end up taking the first one offered after months of searching, only to be fired months later because it wasn't the right job for you and it's also an employer's market. The only jobs increasing there are the vulturous debt collectrolls, and I will never, ever do that. I will never, ever go back to being desperate for a job (and I have a college degree and years of experience!), only to find that the only people calling aren't for job interviews but debt collectrolls making money off of your misfortune and misery.

Ohioans have brought this all on themselves, however. For fifteen years, they've voted in the pukes who've maintained a death grip on the state and totally ruined it in the process. They've enacted some of the toughest anti-consumer and anti-employee legislation in the country, and have been some of the most corrupt group of "leaders' the state has ever seen (and that's saying a lot!). They've gutted higher education in the state and the universities are the first place they look to cut. And all they've cared about is stupid trivial shit like gay marriage and banning strip clubs and adult shops and school prayer, etc., etc.

They're even trying to enact a bill not only criminalizing abortion, but making it illegal to go to another state where it's legal to get one. They're too fucking stupid to understand the interstate commerce clause and how that provision is, in and of itself, unconstitutional and illegal.

You can't get them to give a shit about any issues that actually affect the state's citizens, but yell "gay marriage" or "school prayer" or "abortion" or "strip clubs", etc., etc., and they'll come running to the statehouse. And then they wonder why anyone who can do so is fleeing the state as fast as they can (I'm not the only one just among my own circle of family and friends to have left the state for good and I know second-hand of many others). And Ohioans kept voting them all in year after year, so fuck them all and fuck the state. I'm never going back!!!!!
