Is Karl Rove Seeking Friendly Judges for His Future Appeals?

Karl Rove is making an all out push to get Brett Kavanaugh appointed to the D.C. Court of Appeals. The guy is only 39 years old, has never been a judge, and has never tried a case. The report from the American Bar Association found very unfavorable opinions of his work from other attorneys and judges. However, Kavanaugh is very politically reliable. He was a top aide in Ken Starr's multi-multi-million dollar blue dress investigation, and he is an assistant counsel inside the White House. He also helped Bush with the Florida vote count debacle in 2000.

Tom Hartman on Air America last night asked an important question: Is Karl Rove trying to make sure friendly judges are in place for the appeal of his future felony conviction? The D.C. Court of Appeals would hear any appeals of a Federal conviction of Rove. Kavanaugh has been at Rove's right side for many partisan political battles.

The D.C. Court of Appeals is the second most important court in the US, because it handles most legal matters involving actions of the Federal government. This would be a lifetime appointment - so Kavanaugh could be on the court for 4 decades. This is the court where Scalia and Bork got their start.

Here's an excerpt from Senator Schumer comments:

"...there are scores of lawyers in Washington and around the country who are of equally high intellectual ability, but who have much more signficant judicial, legal, and academic experience to recommend them for this post.

Brett Kavanaugh is the youngest person nominated to the DC Circuit since his mentor, Ken Starr. If you go through the pre-judicial appointment accomplishments of the 9 judges who currently sit on the DC Circuit, you will see that Mr. Kavanaugh’s accomplishments pale by comparison."
