I have seen various sources stating that the costs associated with diabetes: insulin, syringes, blood-glucose monitoring supplies, physician/endrocrinologist visits, etc., may account for 10% of the total annual medical expenses of Americans. That is one very huge dime out of the staggering US Dollar total of yearly medical costs.

For the US Senate to argue that the long-term effect of a bill such as this will result in money savings by the government, the insured public, or the insurance/medical industry, is fatuous. The cascade of health disaster resultant from poor or no control of a serious chronic health problem, because of the inability of those affected to pay for BG test strips, insulin, and proper medical care, will be devastating.
