Hi there. My name is William Rivers Pitt, but you need to call me Will. In case you hadn’t heard yet, I have come on board as the Press Secretary for the Dennis Kucinich for President campaign. The announcement was made at the spectacular shindig we had in Manchester after the New Hampshire primary, and you can watch the webcast of the party from the campaign website.
In the event you’ve never heard of me, let me give you a few quick details. I was for several years a high school teacher of English Literature, Journalism, Writing, Grammar and History, and I was also a dean. For the last several years, I have been the managing editor and lead writer of an online news magazine called truthout.org. Incidentally, the hardest part about making the decision to join this campaign was the fact that I’d have to leave my work with truthout behind for a while. It is an extraordinary news source you should become familiar with.
I’ve also written a couple of books. The latest one is called ‘The Greatest Sedition is Silence,’ which covers the deranged nature of the last three years of American politics. The book I wrote before that is called ‘War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn’t Want You to Know.’ This book was published about 16 months ago, right when the big push for invading Iraq was coming from the Bush administration. The book stated, with all facts in hand, that there were no WMD in Iraq, no al Qaeda connections, no threat to America, and therefore no reason whatsoever for us to go to war there. 16 months and over 500 dead American soldiers later, that book is still 100% correct.
That’s one of the main reasons I am joining up with Dennis Kucinich. His campaign for the Presidency represents everything that makes me proud to be a Democrat and progressive. His stance on the Iraq invasion has been the longest, strongest, most consistent and most moral of any candidate in this race. Dennis stands also for the American worker, the environment, health care for all, Dennis Kucinich and this campaign stand for everything that is great about America, everything that has been lost in our politics, and everything we must fight to recapture so that our greatness, and our goodness, is secured for all time and for our children.
Dennis Kucinich is running for President. Dennis Kucinich is also formulating a national grass-roots progressive movement that will be in place long after this race is run. I have joined this campaign to help, as best I can, to craft and organize that movement. It is the greatest privilege of my life to be his Press Secretary, to stand with him for all he is standing for. I’ll see you on the road.
