71. I share your sentiments........
yes, we've heard a lot of talk lately. It is refreshing but it remains, until today's closed session of the Senate, talk. That and 50 cents will get me a newspaper in the morning. Four plus years of "yes, Mr. Bush" cannot be undone by mere words. The Democrats has their chance to stand against these outrageous bush policies from the start but chose to take the safe road so they wouldn't be ridiculously branded as anti-American. They enabled the bush administration in so many ways during his first four years, look at the voting records in the House and Senate they're there for all to see.
I am one to give credit when credit is due. Today's stand against the Republican leadership was stellar and it sent a message to the bush administration that the gloves are off, we're going to fight for what we believe. What took so long to finally stand and fight though? Until now it has been all words without actions to back them up.
I'm not even one of the "constant complainers" that are referred to in the OP. I have never talked our leaders down unless they deserve it, I don't demoralize Democrats and would NEVER vote Green, Blue or otherwise to prove some silly point. I'm a dyed in the wool Democrat and have been for over 35 years. But I will NOT confuse cheap talk with positive action.
That being said, I'm ecstatic over today's actions by our Democratic leadership. It is just this sort of action that will finally differentiate Democrats from Republicans in the American publics minds. It's long overdue, but hey, a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. We've finally taken that first step from mere background noise to solid, noticeable action.
