Tillman was murdered because all of the careful grooming that BushCo had given him in order to elevate him to War SpokesHero® was for nothing, he was exercising his own free will (and sense of reason) and was going to use his fresh political schoolin' to come out against war policy.
And Jessica Lynch and her teammates were "un-assassinated": elevated beyond the level of their actual war experience into Instaheroes®. No wonder any of them appear in public.
