Colin Powell yesterday:

"The United States does not support the elimination or the exile of Mr. Arafat. I think you can anticipate that there would be rage throughout the Arab world, the Muslim world and in many other parts of the world."

So the US is opposed to the summary execution of Arafat, but will not say that in the Security Council.

Is this the "leadership" Bush was babbling about during campaign 2000?
