The NY Daily News reports

Damel Burton carried a 9-mm. Ruger pistol with four rounds in it, and was carrying another nine rounds

The crazed ex-con who killed his girlfriend's son then opened fire inside a Queens bus packed with commuters, killing another man, was hoping for a bloodbath, prosecutors charge.

"The defendant stated that he would have shot more people but the gun jammed," prosecutor Suzanne O'Hare said in Queens Criminal Court during Damel Burton's arraignment.

Recently, when I mentioned that Ruger was a crap gun, no one seemed to agree. I suppose Damel Burton would.

Another thing the pro-gun crowd keep denying is that gun availability plays a part in these situations. Can you imagine that in New York City, where there are extremely strict gun control laws, a guy as crazy and paranoid as Damel, with a long felony record to boot, was able to get his hands on a gun. It's unbelievable and it's unacceptable. But the explanation is simple, and so is the solution.
