Living in Oblivion

April 4, 2004 (apj.ny) -- These are not exactly salad days for team Bush. One of the top two stories of this Pundit Sunday was the continuing horror over the slaughter and mutilation of four US mercenaries in Fallujah, an incident with parallels to the downing of a helicopter over a decade ago in Mogadishu that should trouble the entire Bush team.

The other was the sudden flip-flop late in the week by George W. Bush, who originally would not allow National Security Amateur Condolleeza Rice to testify before the 9/11 Commission, but reversed his position in a tersely-worded announcement near the end of the week.

Meat the Parse

Well, with Jane Grice spending a well-deserved weekend out of town, it falls to me to give you the skinny on the first long portion of Meat the Parse, in which Tim Russert tried to fake fairness with 9/11 Commission Chairman Tom Kean and commission member and former senator Lee Hamilton. Here's the two-minute version of the less-than-earthshaking festivities (along with our trademark parenthetical "asnides").
