The way Van Heuvel represents it makes it seem as if Clark actually wanted to ATTACK the Russians, which seems totally insane. Clark suggests he merely wanted to block the Russians, which sounds reasonable enough.

Does anyone have a more definitive source on this? I must admit I'll be very dissapointed if Van Heuvel didn't do her homework--I've had a bit of a crush on her for some time!
