I had a Sony 700 (I really liked it), which is now owned by my husband. I have loved my Nook from the moment I got it. It really is about reading preferences. I can see why the Kindle would be attractive for many, it just wasn't for me. In my case I preferred a virtual keyboard opposed to a physical one. And when I made the switch to the Nook, it was important that the Sony file format was able to transfer over so I could keep books that I already purchased or downloaded. Even though my husband has a Sony, and I have a Nook, we can share books as long as they're bought from Sony or a 3rd party provider (books bought from B&N are closed to the Nook, however, it recognizes books bought from Sony, Kobo, and other e-book stores).
