Any advice for a first time home buyer?

My wife and I are looking at houses and we're wondering if there is any sage advice to be found on DU (I know there is!) So what say ye gentle evilDUers? Any pitfalls to avoid? Tips? Advice? Words of wisdom? Nothing is too small! We are so excited and we want to make sure we do everything right. Thanks!
