Yay! Hard drive rescued!
Advertisements [?]
Posted here a few weeks ago about an external hard drive that died on me... well, it turns out that the "upgrade" to Mac OS 10.5 was incompatible with certain external hard drives (including mine, the Maxtor OneTouch II) so it just appeared to be dead. I bought a cheap external enclosure, pulled the actual drive from the Maxtor and put it in the new one, and presto! Hard drive and files all seem to be fine!

I think I'm still going to pull the data off this drive and "retire" it though, since I did try that freezing thing (which it turns out can cause a lot more damage, and is NOT very likely to help). Still, finally some good news on the computer front. :)

Win! :toast:
