Tonight on tap at Tavernertavern: Dick's Bottleworks IPA and Great Divide Old Ruffian Barleywine

Dick's is a brewery. Bottleworks is a spot in Seattle where you can find any beer imaginable. The Pacific Northwest knows their coffee, their beer and their skiing. People flock to the Pacific Northwest in droves because this is where you can live in paradise, as long as you don't miss the sun. So their IPA is made for discerning IPA drinkers. It's full of malt, like a good PNW IPA should, it's full of local hops, which grow in abundance out there, and it's high in alcohol because, it's FUCKING RAINING! What the hell else are you going to do?

The barley wine - um, YUM! Fucking awesome shit from Colorado. You know, I think they are trying to make up for being, in the beer world, kind of forgotten. I mean think of their neighbors: Utah - no alcohol. Wyoming - no people. Idaho - again, more sheep than people. So they are out there in this awesome place with no one to tell about it to. So they make these great, malt-infested, hop-driven, alcohol-heavy and perfect beers. Hence, this barleywine is pretty damn good.
