about an inch or two taller than their mothers, who were also taller than their mothers. I am 4 inches taller than my mother, for example. That would mean that (white) women on average would be several inches taller.

Regarding shoe sizes, earlier it was posted

"Oddly, way back then most shoe stores did not stock women's shoes past about sz 8 .. and they started at size 4.."

My point is that women are bigger in every way now, and they now wear bigger shoes than they did, so shoes have to stock larger shoes than they did "way back then." It doesn't have anything to do with men's shoe sizes.
