Sure, The Cars might've sucked in concert, but they had some great music!!

In the genre of the bullshit that polluted the 80s - oversynthed, pop vomitous utterly devoid of musicianship or musicality - but The Cars had a wonderful streak of creativity and originality in their music that made it very listenable to then, and still listenable today, with only the barest hint, if any, of feeling "dated".

Same with Cyndi Lauper and Culture Club and the first Duran Duran album - good music, even though it's pop; these were the rare four or five gems in a field that was otherwise entirely polluted with nonmusical, uncreative garbage reeking of bodies decomposing for lack of a soul.
