Ted Bundy -- the deliberate stranger

I watched a bioflick Friday night; this movie:

It was more graphic than the made-for-TV movies, actually showing Bundy beating and verbally taunting women as he raped them -- sometimes bashing them in the head with a crow bar.

I found it quite telling that a man who was so vicious and violent and evil completely wimped out and cried as he was being prepared for the executioner. They even stuffed cotton wads up his anus (I don't know what that was about) along with some mixture. Bundy (this depiction, anyway) wimpered like a wounded puppy. He wimpered even more as they shaved his head, as if someone was going to strike him.

There is no way to know the actual number of deaths he caused, but what struck me was the blood lust that was rampant as the crowds gathered outside the prison awaiting Bundy's execution. I found myself agreeing with them. I guess I was caught up in the moment after seeing how cruelly he treated his victims.

I guess my question is, Is the death penalty ever warranted, regardless of the crime(s) committed?
