8. I always go over "what ifs" in my mind
What if after Iran-Contra, the competent Dukakis won and didn't allow Poppy Bush to pardon all those traitors? Instead, Dukakis has a worse August than Kerry...

Or, what if Carter's ill-fated hostage rescue hadn't been a disaster & the hostages were freed in a daring rescue, giving the competent (and now less uninspiring) Jimmy Carter a narrow victory over Reagan? Instead, we had 8 years of trickle down economics, dismantling of the Fairness Doctrine and a prolongation of the Cold War.

What if JFK, RFK and MLK hadn't been assassinated? Would we have had a Kennedy dynasty from 1960-1976? Instead, we get Tricky Dick & Watergate, secret bombings of Cambodia and a presidential resignation.
