That fight is somewhat obscure, when Jones was a 19 year old amateur and virtually unknown. He had nowhere near the buildup of Sugar Ray Leonard heading into Montreal in '76, for example.

If more people knew about that fight, it would be a near unanimous choice in threads like this. I have it on tape and watch it whenever I need an overpowering laugh. It is literally like handing the Wimbledon championship to someone who just got beat 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 in the final.

I'm a Roy Jones Jr. fan who attended the fight tonight and am still a bit stunned. He had clearly slipped at 35, but I never expected a decisive KO, even to someone like Tarver with style, skills and physique that would always give Jones fits.

Taking that rematch made no sense. And it tarnishes Jones' career since he had never been beaten in the ring before tonight.
