4. Haven't seen it yet but I am planning on it

Here are some good ones I've watched recently. (All the quoted stuff is from the IMDB pages I've linked, but the ratings are mine , not IMDB's. I'm picky so don't expect too many 9's and 10's. 'Momento' only gets a 9.5 from me and I've watched it like 10 times lol.)

Little Buddha Rating: 8/10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107426/

Half the movie is the story of Siddhartha, the other half is about a boy from Seattle. Some modern day monks think he is the reincarnation of their (dead) teacher. The people are based on real people. The story of Siddhartha is told as if it were being read from a story book.

Keanu Reeves plays Siddhartha and did an excellent job. His monotone delivery is actually perfect for a role as discoverer of the "middle way" , so to speak.

It gets only a 5.5 at IMDB but I don't understand why. Maybe it is boring to people who know the story better than I do. Or, maybe some fundies freeped the rating :)

Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom Rating: 7/10
a.k.a. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374546/

If you dislike subtitles... RUN! Actually not a lot of dialogue to begin with. So, if you like lots of dialogue... RUN!! ;-) Seriously, it is a little slow but I liked it a lot.

"A young boy lives in a small floating temple on a beautiful lake, together with an elderly master who teaches him the ways of the Buddha. Years later the boy, now a young man, experiences his sexual awakening with a girl who has come to the temple to be healed by the master. The youth runs away to the outside world but his lust turns his life into hell, so he returns to the lake temple to find spiritual enlightenment."

SPOILER: cute story from the movie.

Boy goes around capturing animals. A fish, a frog and a snake. He ties a rock to them with a piece of string. His master watches this and so, when the boy goes to sleep, he ties a rope and stone to him. It is too hilarious when the boy wakes up. The master tells him he must find all the animals and release them. And, if any has died, he must live with that on his soul forever.

25th hour Rating: 8
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0307901/

"Monty Brogan(Ed Norton) is about to start his last day of freedom before turning himself into the authorities and serving a seven-year term for drug dealing. He's a charming young man who had always dreamed of being a fireman, following in the working-class footsteps of his father, who has had to put up his bar in Queens as bond so that his son can stay out of jail until his sentence begins. Monty, named for Montgomery Clift, does not know how he managed to get himself into this predicament. It was easy money and it carried so many perks, and you'll feel more than a little sympathy for this young man who has managed to kill his own dream for courtside seats at Madison Square Garden. But before he goes to prison, Monty wants to have one last night out on the town with his two best friends. Frank Slattery is a bond trader, one of the best and most successful risk takers in a very risky business. The other is Jakob Elinsky, an English teacher who envies his friends' lifestyles but who has no intention of ever giving up his job for the easy money, despite the disillusionment of teaching high school students in a tough school. The three young men enjoy the night into the early morning as they eat, drink, and visit the hottest spots in town. It's a sad night for Monty, but he has a plan that neither Frank nor Jacob know about--and it makes for a shocking ending to this brilliant and disturbing story."

Spider Rating: 7.5
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278731/

"Dennis Clegg is in his thirties and lives in a halfway house for the mentally ill in London. Dennis, nicknamed "Spider" by his mother has been institutionalized with acute schizophrenia for some 20 years. He has never truly recovered, however, and as the story progresses we vicariously experience his increasingly fragile grip on reality."
