Wiretapping is something to which every American can relate

While the NSA Spygate has its complexities, fundamentally it comes down to one central issue - Did the Government illegally invade the privacy of Americans in America? And while the facts are still evolving, it appears that the answer is a resounding yes. This is an issue which is easily comprehendible by people of even the lowest level of intellect. Americans take great pride in their belief that one of the gifts of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave is that we are protected against illegal snooping by our government. Why do they feel this way. Because the Constitution says so. And both the Courts and Congressional action have exacted harsh penalties against those who in the past haved violated the sanctity of this inalienable right.

It is for this reason that I believe Spygate is growing tenticles and it is going to envelop and strangle the Republican Party. Given the proximity of the mid-term elections, Repuke Congressman will have to carefully dance around this one. But I predict the firestorm it will bring will not allow them to escape. They will have to go on the record. If they support the Administration they risk incurring the wrath of the electorate come next November, especially given all the other Administration scandals that are lurking and the President's failing popularity. If they express their outrage, they will be challenged as to why they took no Congressional action to bring impeachment charges. Either way they lose.
