about this. That pre-supposes that the (mainly) youths who are the targets of recruiting campaigns are paying attention to what's going on. They are very prone to unquestioning acceptence (as I was, and most of us here on DU were at that age) of the lies and obfuscations presented. Not all, of course, but CERTAINLY enough will sucumb to the lies to fulfill the quotas. Add the economy, especially, for young minorities, and you get an even greater push to enlist. As for only half of respondants saying that they will re-enlist, I think that that number is high. When I was in the Navy (and a cute Little Stud Muffin, much to my amazement, when I look at pictures) in 1968-73 far fewer were willling to re-up.
