However, a hurricane in Arizona might actually be somewhat of a blessing now. AZ had its first successful monsoon in nearly a decade this year; they really could use the rain. By the time Otis reaches Arizona, it'll have been over land enough to weaken quite a bit.

It's pretty much following the same path that monsoon winds/rains do.

Edit: I should amend my comments regarding the "successful" monsoon...it was very scattered as usual, but was far better than the last few failed ones. Its "success" depends on who you ask, I guess, my family in AZ reported that it was a lot better, and I saw a thunderstorm or three myself when I was down there in July.:)
