Reply #36: Several days after the storm hit

While looking in the refrigerator and trying to decide whether my key lime yogurt had gone over the edge of eatability because of no electricity, a thought kept crossing my mind. It continued when I rejoiced at enough rain to both shampoo and rinse my hair in the runoff of my eavetrough. It crossed my mind when I was trying to secure my yard for the night with nylon rope tied to my car bumper.

"This is the future. Get used to it and learn from it."

A sobering thought and an eye opening moment for me. Too bad it had to take a Superstorm to make me take stock of the situation and realize we are on our own. Neighbor helping neighbor because sometimes help doesn't come from faulty exalted leadership. Will it take the decimation of the rest of the country to wake people up?
