10. "...Islam never had an 'Age of Reason'..."
Tenth century Islam was the leading light of scientific research -- mathematics, astronomy, alchemy, the study of the sciences of the ancient greeks and romans. The Islamic 'Age of Reason' was cut short, however, by repeated attacks by christian fanatics, superstitious barbarians who coveted the wealth of the Islamic world.

There is a certain irony that the 'enlightened West' is under attack by fanatic Muslims, the seeds of whose culture were planted by the west during the crusades which stifled the Muslims' own enlightenment.
