with terminal cancer, and she's been healthy now for 10 years. You're right, sometimes doctors misjudge. However... My niece and yours (how long in PVS?) did not recover after 15 years in a hospital bed. Neither did either one (I'm guessing) express wishes to die rather than remain in a vegetative state. I think it's wonderful that your neice recovered. I have a cousin with Down syndrome who is a joy to the family, so it's not about the disability. It's about the wishes of the afflicted.
