In this kind of war, victory cannot happen by devastating the land and the people you are trying to help.
Military battles don't mean squat if the people you are trying to help don't support you. Military victory cannot exist without political victory. And * irretrievably lost the political part of the war last week, with regard to the peoples of the ME.
