If you knew him in the early 60's, you should have told him to recruit Black athletes to his football team if he didn't want to look like a racist. If being seen as a racist would have bothered him, he would have had black athletes on his team before it was forced on him in order to stay competitive.

I'm from the South, and I know all about those years. People who weren't racist found ways to integrate. People who were racists found excuses not to integrate.
