102. Vote on the rule, is a vote to drill in ANWR
Edward Markey: not in the house, not in the senate bill, this provision has been added to the defense appropriations bill. A Cant pass measure has been added to a, must pass measure in order that the republicans give a huge gift to the oil industry.

Now after the oil companies have registered 100 billion dollars in profits, ...
the republicans waving all rules in the house, have slapped this bill onto the appropriations bill.

"What are they doing? they are attaching an OIL AMMENDMENT to drill in the arctic wildlife preserve"

"This myth that republicans dont fight wars for oil, ... is finally put to rest once and for all, since members CANT vote up or down whether they want to drill in ANWR"

RE: soldiers in IRAQ, if the rules committee will bring a bill down here without ANWR, it would pass.

drug companies got stuff added, oil companies got stuff added.

if you think that if we vote this down, that it wont be in the next bill, they will put it right back in.

so we reach this point where the house and senate majority are contortiing the rules of the house for generations.

...

In order to preserve the integrity of the rules of the house, to give full consideration of the rules, I URGE A NO VOTE.
