One can be a rigid, bloodthirsty and repressive Islamist and have no connection with the loose confederation that is Al-Queda. It's rather amorphous anyway.

It's like an American Nazi saying he has nothing to do with those Klan guys.

It will be an interesting next few months, and if history is any guide, things will get at least a bit unstable after a few months. All of this will, of course, play into the hands of the Republicans, as will the Iraq withdrawal.

No offense meant to you; you've been on the moral and ethical side of the Libya debates...
