I've got it and I basically just changed my diet (no beef, pork, or fried foods; lot's of veggies and beans), dropped 45 pounds, and cut way back on coffee. It went away. My doctor says that severe GERD only affects a very small percentage of people who need PPI to control their symptoms.

Don't tell the big drug companies, but expensive drugs are not the answer for the majority of people suffering heartburn.
