I would be angry if someone spoiled my graduation, or my kids' graduation because of politics. The whole event would turn into a circus.

His handlers probably know that his presence would turn the whole thing into negative publicity for him. That is probably the real, and selfish reason for his non-attendance.

I have attended all my kids' graduations. We are skipping my oldest daughter's graduate school commencement. She told us she preferred to have us there for her senior recital. We went to that, and spent quite a bit of time with her.

Maybe we need to pick our battles. Shrub does enough heinous stuff that we can criticize legitimately. Let's forget about this one.
