Emma Sullivan, the student who received national attention for writing a disparaging tweet about Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, told POLITICO that she is being bullied by other students at her school because of the incident.

It is just bullying, and Im trying not to take it to heart because thats what they want me to do, she said Tuesday. Im getting a lot of negative attention locally, and thats a lot to deal with. The students at my high school are being really bad about the situation - it just sucks that they dont support me at all in any of this.

The bullying, much of which is taking place on Twitter, is part of the reason that Sullivan was staying home from school on Tuesday. Theyve been sending me tweets, calling me an attention whore, saying this is all about fame and that I dont deserve to be getting any of these interviews, she said.

A Twitter hashtag set up against her contains numerous expletives, including one user, @PoundShop_Zoe, who calls her a whore multiple times. When Emma Comes back she should be forced to go to north #HopeYourHappy Whore, he writes.
