220. I think the main difference between the last and current presidency
is that the vast majority of Democrats in the senate/house have to much ethics to basically try and destroy a presidency by opposing every single thing that comes before them(or close to everything)

That is the main reason I see for Bush to have passed some of the things he did, he had some 'blue dogs' or the senate equivalent aiding him almost by default as well as other democrats who saw enough good in the bill to accept its passage. Due to the Republicans massive opposition this session tho its a lot harder to pass bills for the Democrats currently.

What many Democrats(atleast on DU) seems to ignore tho when they talk about a democratic majority is that some of the said Democrats are blue dogs which are more likely to side with the Republicans.(They were one of Bush's major advantages, they are however one of Obama's major hinderances)
