10. Americans in general and independents in particular
respect and admire the use of power. Obama and the democrats failed to use the power given to them to effect real change and came across as wusses. Wusses are not favored by the electorate.

If Obama had ruthlessly pursued Health Care Reform by starting at single payer and then settling for a public option, while twisting the tails of Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberfock, he would have been seen as a strong leader and these polls would be tracking differently. Instead, he started with a barely reasonable reform and then settled for very little, thus appearing weak.
