That the committee often award the price in a proactive way, that is both for actual accomplishments and as a way of supporting a body of work still in progress.

This has been the case many times before and is in my humble view a much better policy than waiting for certainty until the recipients has one foot in the grave and no use for whatever support the price would offer them. Nobody could ever blame them if they wanted to do that, but this is so much better in terms of having an effect.
