...look at all the chemicals and "additives" that have been added to our food supply over our lifetimes. I ate a LOT of meat, etc., as a kid, and I really don't want to think about all the carcinogens I've ingested over the years. Too late now, anyway. That's why whenever possible I get organic stuff, or free range stuff.

I think that's part of it. Also, I think we've become more aware of the disease and people aren't hiding it like they may have had in years past.
