But I've looked into it - there is only one train a day, and there is a transfer in Chicago. All my time is billed at $115/hr to clients, and my projects have fixed budgets. If a round trip takes an extra 10 hours, my budget loses $1150, plus the cost of the fare. Although, if I could work on the train, the time would not be wasted. What America needs is a high speed train service that links the major cities.

My significant other and I took Amtrak from Milwaukee to Seattle 8 years back - the Empire Builder. We got a deal through one of the airlines, price wasn't too bad. Train out - plane back. We had a sleeper - the ability to get privacy, and a daily shower, was priceless. Train travel is wonderful, unlike a plane, the vacation starts the moment you climb aboard. This was my favorite vacation in my 42 years.
