These people DO vote, and they do it in droves.

This article is very depressing and scary to me. We may make fun of these people and call them charicatures, but these are the people who vote and buy those $2000 hot dogs by the hundreds. They actually DO vote on single issues, like opposition to abortion rights, support of school prayer, and, of course, promises of lower taxes.

You can't write them off as stupid and shallow people, either. I have met Nancy Brock through a mutual friend and she is no idiot. Scary hair and make-up? Yes. Totally immersed in the bizarre "beauty culture", yes, but also, she is a self-employed businesswoman who I'll bet makes $150,000+ a year.

It is hilarious to make fun of these people, but we write them off as a political force at our peril.
