Apparently the flame war started on the 16th. Since I posted on the 15th I seemed to of missed it. Your defense on my behave was most appreciated.

NV Mojo is apparently based in Elko, to my North. Since I am in Las Vegas I did not go to the meeting at Elko. Since I have been out of politics for a while I am no longer well known in Nevada Democratic circles.

Mr. Carter CAN win in Nevada. It will NOT be easy. As previously posted, Mr. Ensign has family connections to Circus Circus and is thus known to the real money men in Nevada, the casino owners/operators. Unfortunately this means that Mr. Carter's natural base in Las Vegas is not a given.

There are Democrats in the rural counties. Not a majority but it gives Mr. Carter a base to build on. Hopefully the Republicans in the rural areas are as sick of shrub as the rest of the county.

There in is the key. Mr Ensign must be tied to the pResidents coattails. By himself, Ensign has no political liabilities. Though he is not a "heavyweight" intellectually, he is not stupid. Plus the power of the incumbency is at his disposal.

One thing I do know in Nevada politics, being strident is a no-no! Being partisan is fine...pointing out an opponents flaws is expected. But do not be a flaming liberal. Bob Beers (Republican) who is a strident conservative knows to keep his attacks focused on taxes (a sure winner) and leave his more controversial stuff for right wing party gatherings.

Mr. Carter seems to understand this. I hope his staff also understands this. If not it will be another Bob Bernstein.

Note: Bob Bernstein was the last challenger to Senator Ensign. A smart Las Vegas lawyer who was vastly Ensign's superior in intellect had the Democratic establishment in a twitter about his chances. Needless to say, the money won; not the intellect.
