Anyway, I've been thinking about this. Since the aim of the corporate fascist agenda is to privatize all functions of the government, seems they don't see any need for appointing qualified people. The plan is to literally empty the public coffers into privately held corporations that will take over and render redundant or meaningless, most of the functions of FEMA, Homeland Security, the Pentagon, FDA, EPA etc.

In that case, why not keep up the facade as long as you need to for the cameras by filling these positions with do-nothing pals, toadies and enablers? Everyone's on a boondoggle while the government infrastructure slowly circles the bathtub drain.

The longer this goes on, the more I think the deplorable response to Katrina, if not outright calculated, served the purpose of the Neocons quite nicely. Too bad for them they're losing the "reality war" on this one.
