19. Crude holds above $59 a barrel level

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures opened lower on the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday, although it held above the $59 a barrel level, on continued concerns that demand in the second half of the year will outstrip refiners' ability to supply. The contract for July delivery, which expires at the close of trade today, was last trading down 32 cents, or 0.5%, at $59.05 a barrel. The August contract, which becomes the front month contract on Wednesday, was down 33 cents, or 0.6% at $59.55 a barrel.
