57. Just spoke to the poor unfortunate handling the phones for AARP.
Bless her heart, she had a script to read to angry people who are calling in to complain about AARP's current position on Social Security. Said script contained the claim that AARP was committed to benefits, that media reports are misleading, etc.

What I said to her is that the very report itself negotiates away bargaining power for ordinary workers. As long as anchors and headlines are screaming that AARP's open to cuts, that moves the goalposts, to mix a few metaphors.
