My home connection and it's 30Mb/s can easily handle standard DVD streaming and while it's not good enough to handle uncompressed 1080 HD, once compression technology improves, I don't see this being much of an issue.
The DRM problem and infighting among the studios about piracy concerns are much more of an obstacle than bandwidth infrastructure.
