George W Bush is a CROOK!
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 07:43 PM by Octafish
Hey, Undecideds!Learn what DUers KNOW! George W Bush is a CROOK! In fact, theres a long history of criminality associated with Smirk, his father, his grandfather and much of the rest of their sick and sordid family.

Feel free to add or argue, I dont care which. Just be prepared to learn the Truth.

The Bushes are so crooked, they cant even pee straight. They represent a criminal class unlike anything the world has ever seen before. Heres the short history of WHAT WE KNOW:

A Pocket History of the Bush Organized Crime Family Crime Line

Hitlers Angel Prescott Bush and his Wall Street cronies helped finance and arm the Third Reich. Some continued trading with the enemy even after Germany declared war on America. No wonder the BFEE counts the NAZIs as their special friends today.

Bay of Pigs Bush the Oilman and his Cuban and Mafia friends raise hell in Miami, New Orleans and Houston. Nice fellahs. LBJ called their organization "A regular Murder Inc in the Caribbean."

22 November 1963, Dallas George DeMohrenschildt the White Russian geologist is friends with both Lee Harvey Oswald and George Herbert Walker Bush. Small world, as the coincidences get bigger. Almost 40 years later, FBI memos surface that detail how George Herbert Walker Bush fingered a young conservative the day of the assassination and "Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency" cleared the anti-Castro Cubans in Miami days later.

Vietnam OK for poor kids to fight an illegal war started over the phony Gulf of Tonkin Incident, just as long as "W," the drunken coke-whore dim son, destined to become preznit some day, or the rest of his rich frat brothers don't have to go. Meanwhile Poppys rich friends became very, very, very rich.

Watergate Nixon was willing to throw anyone and everyone to the wolves except George Herbert Walker Bush and The Texans because Theyll do anything for our side. Gee. Would murder qualify as anything. Think so, especially seeing how Nixon got the ziggy and Bush ended up in the clear.

October Surprise Carter probably wouldve beat Reagan, but Bush and his buddies in INTEL and the military-industrial complex cut a deal with the Ayatollah to hold the hostages clear through the election. On inauguration day, they got to leave Tehran. A couple of weeks later, Israel starts sending US-supplied weapons. It proves so "profitable," that Ollie North cuts out the Israelis and decides to sell them US-direct.

Reagan survives assassination attempt Just a couple of months after Reagan is sworn in, Reagan is ALMOST taken out and Bush stood ready to take charge. His son Neil was ready to have dinner that night with John Hinckleys brother, Scott. Odd how these One Degree of Separation coincidences always happen to Poppy.

INSLAW/Promis The turd Ed Meese and cronies stole software that enabled the Justice Department to track criminal prosecutions, had their INTEL buddies add a trap door, and then sold it around the world, making it possible to track what every BFEE-connected dictator or friend from Saddam to dAubission is up to -- in Freedoms name.

Iraq-gate / Banca Nazionale del Lavoro arms Just how do you think Iraq managed to run its war against Iran for all those years? Saddam had to be getting juice from somebody, so they found a low-level banker in Miami to take the fall. US taxpayers floated Saddam $5 billion in loans. Meanwhile the Iran-Iraq war is prolonged by years and several hundreds of thousands of lives are lost.

BCCI International Money Laundering for Terrorists & Intelligence Community The terrorists favorite bank, used by among others Abu Nidhal, Osama bin Laden, Ollie North, CIA, SIS and KGB. The Reagan and Bush administrations and friends on both sides of the aisle in Congress did all they could to keep it open. John Kerry got it shut down.

Savings & Loan Scandal Legalized robbery in the form of loans made to the politically connected, Mafia and INTEL-huggers. Odd how even Neil Bush, who made millions while Silverado, the S&L he helped direct, lost billions in bad loans to Bush cronies, never spent a day in jail. Kid from Detroit steals a pair of shoes from the mall and its OK to shoot him dead. Meanwhile, after the bailout fixes everything, Poppys very, very, very rich friends become ultra-rich.

Iran-Contra Neo-con Michael Ledeen, Munacher Ghorbanifar and Adnan Khashoggi bend over backward to sell arms the Ayatollah and use the profits to arm the terrorist Contras. Most of the players should be in prison, but, thanks to Poppys pardon, remain free to roam the streets, let alone corridors of power, and continue the terror.

Arbusto, HARKEN, Spectrum-7, Aloha Every company the crazy monkeys ever touched, hes run into the ground. Yet Poppy's family and friends, including James R Bath, the bin Mahfouz and bin Ladens, always help him out. No wonder the dim bulb went off thinking of ENRON, Kenny Boy and all the possibilities.

Gulf War I Poppy Bush gives April Glaspie the signal to greenlight Saddams border dispute and push into Kuwait. No wonder Saddam felt betrayed when Cheney ordered the extermination of tens of thousands of fleeing Iraqi conscripts heading north on the Highway of Death. Meanwhile, Poppys ultra-rich friends become ultra-ultra-ultra rich.

Selection 2000 Shreds US Constitution After fixing things up so that 70,000 likely Democratic votes and voters are turned away or disenfranchised, the 2000 Florida Presidential election results in a tie. Associate Justice Antonin Scalia gets the idea that maybe the GOP-packed Supreme Court should grant petitioner George W Bushs request for taking the Oval Office, anyway. Someone on DU wrote: You dont steal elections to do good things. Prophetic words, those.

ENRON Energy Policy Sneering Dick Cheney meets with Kenny Boy Lay to discuss ways of helping ENRON rip-off California and the rest of America. There were others there, like Chevron and EXXON, because they need oil, too. Besides, the ultra-, ultra-, ultra-rich can never have enough.

9-11 After ignoring the warnings of outgoing President Bill Clinton, former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, anti-Terror Chief Richard Clarke, and Director of Central Intelligence George Tenet, George W Bush ignores a report titled Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the U.S. A month later, 3,000 innocent people are murdered. Two ways of looking at this one: 1.) Criminal Negligence, at best; 2.) Treason, most likely.

Gulf War II George W Bush, Sneer, and most of the bureaucracy make a case for going to war in Iraq, stating there are clear-cut connections between 9-11 and Saddam Hussein, who planned to use his arsenal of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons on America. (So far, the only bioweapon used on America was Anthrax that came from a US Army lab grown from a batch of the University of Iowa Strain.) Anwyay, its not really odd to see how attacking Iraq was the Administrations number 1 priority, according to former Treasury Secretary Paul ONeill and anti-Terror Chief Richard Clarke, from January 2001. The reason? Theres money to be made there and power to be gained at home.

PS: Should Sen. Kerry put things in words that easily convey these truths, it would really open up some eyes. It would make it easy for Undecideds to decide. It would even convince good Bush supporters to support John Kerry.

1. The trouble is, only about 90 % of this stuff can be proved.
people would use the rest of it to discredit the whole message. Also, it's a lot to try to get most people to understand.

4. Since when does 10% matter?
Like Kerry's war record, they could just make stuff up -- they don't ten percent to be provable to convince the American public that Kerry's a flip-flopping liar.

25. Agreed. So hit 'em with the Truth. Like Poppy pardoned terrorists.
It's like the Bushes never heard of the "hypocrisy." None in their entourage dare tell them what "treason" means.

A Known Terrorist Living Among Us

Orlando Bosch is the perpetrator of a 1976 bombing of a Cubana airplane carrying seventy-three civilians who were all killed. This was the world's first terrorist action involving the bombing of a civilian airliner. Bosch was recruited, trained, and supported by the CIA. He was then pardoned by the previous Bush administration, and to this day walks freely through the streets of Miami.

Bosch, had been serving a prison sentence but was freed as the result of a campaign launched by Jeb Bush and his right-wing Cuban supporters in Florida. The terrorist activities of Orlando Bosch are fully documented in the book Deadly Secrets by Warren Hinkle and William Turner, who in turn drew their information from a Senate investigation led by Senator Kerry into the activities of the CIA. Evidence showed that the bomb was placed by Cuban-American mercenaries, in the pay of the US Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA. The two terrorists who admitted that they placed the bomb on the Cubana flightLuis Posada Carriles and Orlando Boschare currently free, receiving refuge in the United States.

According to the New York Time of August 17, 1989, Cuban right-wing congressperson Ros-Lehtinen met with former President Bush to negotiate Bosch's release. The meeting was arranged by her campaign manager, Jeb Bush, who had earlier met with Cuban hunger strikers also demanding the release. Bosch was pardoned on July 18, 1990 and the New York Times was the lonely voice denouncing Bush's pardon on an editorial published July 20, 1990.

Bosch was a cohort of Posada Carriles, a Cuban pediatrician who became a world renowned terrorist for the CIA. Carriles has taken claim for the recent wave of hotel bombings in Havana, Cuba. Both men were trained together at Fort Benning, Georgia. Bosch was the founder of the "Command of the United Revolutionary Organizations" formed to cooperate with the DINA Chilean secret police and other Latin American repressive organisms in the murder of leftists throughout the region, including the assassination of the Chilean ambassador, Letelier, in Washington, DC.

But wait. It gets worse.

Jeb Bush appoints terrorist's lawyer to Florida Supreme Court
By Saul Landau

President Bush has insisted that you're either on the side of terrorists or the side of freedom. If that's true, then his brother, Jeb Bush, the governor of Florida, is on the side of terrorists.

Gov. Bush has just appointed Raoul Cantero III to Florida's Supreme Court. As an attorney, Cantero represented Orlando Bosch in deportation hearings in 1989, and extolled his client's virtues. Bosch, whom Cantero called a "Cuban patriot," is arguably the hemisphere's most notorious terrorist.

In October 1976, Venezuelan authorities accused Bosch of co-authoring a plot that resulted in the explosion of a civilian Cuban airliner, killing all 73 passengers and crew members. A Jan. 23, 1989, report from the associate attorney general's office cited a 1979 House Assassinations Committee document that said that although Bosch denied his direct involvement in the airliner bombing, he nevertheless "said that he approved of it." He called it "a legitimate act of war." The committee report quoted Bosch as saying that, "You have to fight violence. At times you cannot avoid hurting innocent people."

In 1985, Venezuelan authorities tried Bosch in connection with the airliner terrorism but acquitted him, even though, at his trial, "evidence was presented that the two men convicted of homicide in connection with the bombing were in contact with Bosch both before and after the bombing," according to a Jan. 23, 1989, U.S. Department of Justice brief. Venezuela had declared its intention to retry Bosch when he fled to the United States without "valid documents," according to the Justice Department.

This isn't "ancient history." Otto the BFEE turd Reich helped Bosch.

Bush's Latin America Czar Rides High

by Toby Eglund

Man with a Past

Critics say that Reich was involved in a slew of questionable domestic activities connected to the Iran-Contra scandal. A 1987 government investigation concluded that Reich's "Office of Public Diplomacy" had "engaged in prohibited, covert propaganda activities," like writing and submitting fake letters to the op-ed pages of U.S. newspapers as if they were from Nicaraguan contra leaders.

The Office, headed by Reich, was set up by President Reagan to sell the contras to the American public as freedom-fighters, and to counter domestic criticism of U.S. involvement in the Central American civil wars. Reich is also said to have personally harassed journalists critical of the administration's Central American policies.

Later, as ambassador to Venezuela, from 1986 to 1989, detractors say Reich tried to get a U.S. visa for convicted terrorist Orlando Bosch, a Cuban exile involved in dozens of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and abroad. Bosch allegedly masterminded the 1976 mid-flight bombing of a civilian Cuban airliner off Barbados, which resulted in the deaths of 73 men, women, and children, including Cuba's entire youth fencing team. He eventually entered the U.S. illegally in 1988 and, as he was about to be deported, Bush, the father, overrode his own Justice Department and allowed him to stay in the country; later, before leaving office, Bush granted him a presidential pardon.

In his later incarnation as a corporate Washington lobbyist and anti-Castro advocate, Reich helped draft the 1995 Helms-Burton Act, which tightened the Cuba embargo by, among other things, penalizing foreign companies with business ties to Cuba, and allowing suits against them. These provisions could benefit Bacardi and Co., Reich's main lobbying client during the last decade (it has paid his consulting company $600,000 in fees since 1996). Now based in the Bahamas, the firm, whose Cuban holdings were nationalized by Castro in 1959, has been enmeshed for years in an international lawsuit against business rival Pernod-Ricard S.A. of France and the Cuban government over the Havana Club rum trademark.

I'm not sure how the Korean war fits in, but aside from that, BCE manipulation has been involved in every armed conflict this country has known in the last century.

The Bush Crime Family:
Four Generations of Wall Street War-Making and War-Profiteering

August, 2004
By Dr. Eric Karlstrom

I. Introduction

Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company, once stated there are two classes of financiers: 1) Those who profit from war and use their influence to bring about war for profit, and 2) constructive financiers. Ford Motor Co., along with about 100 other major U.S. banks and corporations, belongs to the first group (see C. Highams Trading with the Enemy). Indeed, Ford himself was actually decorated by the Nazis for his service to Nazism.

Other prominent international banking families that simultaneously bankrolled Hitler, Stalin, and Roosevelt during the first half of the 20th century include the Rockefellers (Standard Oil Company, Chase Bank), the Rothschilds, the Schiffs, the Warburgs, and the Bushes, among others.

Why would the worlds richest individuals simultaneously fund communism in Russia, fascism in Germany, and socialist democracy in the United States? Georgetown historian Carrol Quigley put it this way: The powers of financial capitalism had a far reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. These financial powers had learned that war is the most profitable of all businesses and also the most effective means of changing the global political landscape. Thus, over the past 2 centuries at least, they have covertly manipulated politicians and nations into wars. Their ultimate goal was and is to establish a New World Order, a totalitarian one-world government ruled by the very few and very rich, i.e., them. Des Griffin has termed this a Fourth Reich of the Rich (Griffin, 1976). George Orwell and Aldous Huxley described what such a world might look like in their classic novels, 1984 and Brave New World.

President George Herbert Walker Bush was not the first or only prominent man to proclaim this New World Order. Hitler, President Woodrow Wilson, author H.G. Wells and innumerable other politicians, writers and businessmen have also heralded its immanent arrival. David Rockefeller, Chairman of Chase Manhattan Bank and arguably the most powerful American of the last half-century, proclaimed: We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.

The Neoconservative Plan
for Global Dominance

Over the last year corporate media have made much of Saddam Hussein and his stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. Rarely did the press or, especially, television address the possibility that larger strategies might also have driven the decision to invade Iraq. Broad political strategies regarding foreign policy do indeed exist and are part of the public record. The following is a summary of the current strategies that have formed over the last 30 years; strategies that eclipse the pursuit of oil and that preceded Hussein's rise to power:

In the 1970s, the United States and the Middle East were embroiled in a tug-of-war over oil. At the time, American military presence in the Gulf was fairly insignificant and the prospect of seizing control of Arab oil fields by force was pretty unattainable. Still, the idea of this level of dominance was very attractive to a group of hard-line, pro-military Washington insiders that included both Democrats and Republicans. Eventually labeled "neoconservatives," this circle of influential strategists played important roles in the Defense Departments of Ford, Reagan and Bush Sr., at conservative think tanks throughout the '80s and '90s, and today occupies several key posts in the White House, Pentagon, and State Department. Most principal among them are:

Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, our current Vice-President and Defense Secretary respectively, who have been closely aligned since they served with the Ford administration in the 1970s;
Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, the key architect of the post-war reconstruction of Iraq;
Richard Perle, past-chairman and still-member of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board that has great influence over foreign military policies;
William Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard and founder of the powerful, neo-conservative think-tank, Project for a New American Century.

In the 1970s, however, neither high-level politicos, nor the American people, shared the priorities of this small group of military strategists. In 1979 the Shah of Iran fell and U.S. political sway in the region was greatly jeopardized. In 1980, the Carter Doctrine declared the Gulf "a zone of U.S. influence." It warned (especially the Soviets) that any attempt to gain control of the Persian Gulf region would be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the U.S. and repelled by any means necessary, including military force. This was followed by the creation of the Rapid Deployment Force a military program specifically designed to rush several thousand U.S. troops to the Gulf on short notice.

Thanks for reminding me, unknown poster.

During the Vietnam era, people like John Kerry fought to keep our nation free. After all he'd been brought up to believe what his government said to be true.

Others, however, like George W Bush, did all they could to support the war, yet couldn't quite bring themselves to fight. So, Bush got Daddy to get him out of a real jam. Here's a nice resource on the subject, it's even got all the latest, like Ben Barnes being "ashamed" of helping the drunken idiot dodge the draft:

Bush's National Guard File Missing Records

Published: September 5, 2004

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Documents that should have been written to explain gaps in President Bush's Texas Air National Guard service are missing from the military records released about his service in 1972 and 1973, according to regulations and outside experts.

For example, Air National Guard regulations at the time required commanders to write an investigative report for the Air Force when Bush missed his annual medical exam in 1972. The regulations also required commanders to confirm in writing that Bush received counseling after missing five months of drills.

No such records have been made public and the government told The Associated Press in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit that it has released all records it can find.

Outside experts suggest that National Guard commanders may not have produced documentation required by their own regulations.

Here's what CAQ knew in '92...

The Family That Preys Together

From Issue No. 41, Covert Action Quarterly , Summer, 1992
by Jack Colhoun

"This is an incredible deal, unbelievable for this small company," energy analyst Charles Strain told Forbes magazine, describing the oil production sharing agreement the Harken Energy Corporation signed in January 1990 with Bahrain.

Under the terms of the deal, Harken was given the exclusive right to explore for gas and oil off the shores of the Gulf island nation. If gas or oil were found in waters near two of the world's largest gas and oil fields, Harken would have exclusive marketing and transportation rights for the energy resources. Truly an "incredible deal" for a company that had never drilled an offshore well.

Strain failed to point out, however, the one fact that puts the Harken deal in focus: George Bush, Jr., the eldest son of George and Barbara Bush of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC, is a member of Harken's board of directors, a consultant, and a stockholder in the Texas-based company. In light of this connection, the deal makes more sense. The involvement of Junior-George Walker Bush's childhood nickname-with Harken is a walking conflict of interest. His relationship to President Bush, rather than any business acumen, made him a valuable asset for Harken, the Republican Party benefactors, Middle East oil sheikhs and covert operators who played a part in Harken's Bahrain deal.

In fact, Junior's track record as an oilman is pretty dismal. He began his career in Midland, Texas, in the mid-1970s when he founded Arbusto Energy, Inc. When oil prices dropped in the early 1980s, Arbusto fell upon hard times. Junior was only rescued from business failure when his company was purchased by Spectrum 7 Energy Corporation, a small oil firm owned by William DeWitt and Mercer Reynolds. As part of the September 1984 deal, Bush became Spectrum 7's president and was given a 13.6 percent share in the company's stock. Oil prices stayed low and within two years, Spectrum 7 was in trouble.

21. Was it something I said? Here's a bit on Poppy and JFK assassination.
Hope this doesn't bore you too much. Today's treason started on 22 November 1963. I don't get tired of telling it because it's news to so many people. The Bushes have a history of HATING Liberals like President Kennedy.

Check out this FBI Memo. In it, Mr. George H.W. Bush reports -- just minutes after JFK is dead -- that someone named JAMES PARROTT may've been involved in the assassination. That's a wow.

In this FBI Memo from J Edgar Hoover, a "Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency" reports -- days after the assassination -- that the anti-Catro Cuban community reacted with "stunned disbelief" at the news of the President's murder. Odd, many assassination researchers have pointed out the many connections between Bush, the Mafia, CIA (including Porter Goss) and the anti-Castro Cubans charged with killing Castro -- Operation 40. That's also a wow. Don't you think?

27. Isn't that something. The Bushes are supposed to have marvelous memories.
...Seriously, that's what Kevin Phillips reports in "American Dynasty."

seemslikeadream and some other DUers reported that "presidential historian" Michael Beschloss told Don Imus that Barbara "Beautiful Mind" Bush told him she took Little George to see "the parade" in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

Gee. That might explain how Poppy (or someone who looks and slouches just like him) was photographed in front of the Texas School Book Depository. Minstrel Boy and a few other DUers think it may be David Atlee Phillips. Same org.

28. Why would Bush be "proceeding to Dallas, Texas" and inform the FBI?
Could it be because he was CIA all-the-way? I knew he was CIA the day in 1976 when Ford appointed him DOCI. You don't get that job without an intelligence background.

The next year, 1977, Jimmy Carter appointed Ted Sorenson as Director of Central Intelligence and there was a hue and cry that Sorenson had no prior intelligence experience. Carter had to back down, withdraw Sorenson, and eventually appointed Admiral Turner. But in 1976 when Ford appointed Bush, he had, on the surface, only been a 2-term congressman, chairman of the RNC under Nixon, and ambassador to China for a year.

29. Excellent question and observation, 2004 Victory!
Thank you for reminding me. I'd forgetten the powers-that-be sunk Sorenson's appointment as DCI. They would never allow a free thinker, let alone a Kennedy Administration insider, serve as DCI. They know what is at stake, and that was why Jerry "Warren Commission Hoover Feed" Ford knew who was the reich man for the job. Felix "Max Gomez" Rodriguez, veteran of the Bay of Pigs, Watergate and Iran-Contra, in his biography "Shadow Warrior," said he and Bush went waaaay back.

John Quinn / Newshawk

Could George Bush be involved in the JFK assassination?
In 1963, Bush was living in Houston, busily carrying out his duties aspresident of the Zapata Offshore oil company. He denied the existence ofa note sent by the FBI's J. Edgar Hoover to "Mr. George Bush of theCIA." When news of the note surfaced, the CIA first said they nevercommented on employment questions, but later relented said yes, a"George Bush" was mentioned in the note, but that it was "another"George Bush, not the man who took office in the White House in 1988.Some intrepid reporters tracked down the "other" George Bush and discovered that he was just a lowly clerk who had shuffled papers forthe CIA for about six months. He never received any interagency messagesfrom anybody at the FBI, let alone the Queen Mary.

It is also worth noting that a CIA code word for Bay of Pigs was Operation Zapata, and that two of the support vessels were named Barbaraand Houston.

Many say that George Bush was high up on the CIA ladder at the time, running proprietorial vehicles and placed in a position of command, responsible for many of the Cubans recruited into "service" at the time. All through the Iran-Contra affair, Felix Rodriguez, the man whocaptured and had Che Guevara killed for the CIA, always seemed to callBush's office first.

From The Realist (Summer, 1991):

"Bush was working with the now-famous CIA agent, Felix Rodriguez, recruiting right-wing Cuban exiles for the invasion of Cuba. It was Bush's CIA job to organize the Cuban community in Miami for theinvasion.... A newly discovered FBI document reveals that George Bushwas directly involved in the 1963 murder of President John Kennedy. Thedocument places marksmen by the CIA. Bush at that time lived in Texas.Hopping from Houston to Miami weekly, Bush spent 1960 and '61 recruitingCubans in Miami for the invasion....

"George Bush claims he never worked for the CIA until he was appointedDirector by former Warren Commission director and then president JerryFord in 1976. Logic suggests that is highly unlikely. Of course, Bushhas a company duty to deny being in the CIA. The CIA is a secretorganization. No one ever admits to being a member. The truth is thatBush has been a top CIA official since before the 1961 invasion of Cuba, working with Felix Rodriguez. Bush may deny his actual role in the CIA in 1959, but there are records in the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba thatexpose Bush's role..."

This guy is a real hero who knows zeros like Max and Ollie. DEA agent Celerino Castillo caught the crooks red-handed and the Reagan-Bush administration did nothing. Seems there's a lot of money to be made off drugs-n-guns-n-oil-n-war.

Reprinted from the New Federalist

Celerino "Cele" Castillo is a former Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Special Agent stationed in Central America during the 1980s. During his years in El Salvador and Guatemala, Castillo was an eye-witness to drug and arms trafficking operations supervised by the CIA on behalf of the FDN -- the Nicaraguan Contras. C-123 transports regularly flew into El Salvador's Ilopango Air Base; weapons from the U.S. were exchanged for vast quantities of cocaine, a cozy arrangement with profits for all.

TARPLEY: What did George Bush know, and when did he know it?

CASTILLO: Before my arrival in Guatemala, we had received intelligence that the Contras were heavily involved in narcotics trafficking. Basically, I was forewarned by the country attache' in Guatemala, Bob Stia, upon my arrival, that there was a covert operation being conducted by the White House, and run by Oliver North at Ilopango in El Salvador.

TARPLEY: So this was your official superior in the DEA?

CASTILLO: That's correct.

TARPLEY: And the first thing he did when you arrived in the country was to tell you: Look, this is now the scene of a covert operation with Oliver North, and they're running drugs.

26. The Truth is what the BFEE fears most.
Thus, it makes for our best weapon. Ha! It's nice to put some FEAR in them!

For instance (please note the dates, ja)...

Bush FEARED Osama Air Attack at the G-8 summit in July 2001

Heres more EVIDENCE BUSH KNEW and DID NOTHING to stop the murders of 3,000 people. And it's from news reports before anybody ever heard of the 6 AUG 2001 PDB. In fact, both articles are from JULY 2001.

Smirk was scared of Osama at the G-8 summit in Genoa. In fact, the Italians (and I imagine the Americans) set up a SAM battery to protect the "dignitaries" and the unelected coward, who had to sleep onboard a US destroyer. This is BACK IN JULY, 2001 -- THE THREAT WAS THERE FROM OSAMA! Here's what set off the alarm bells...

Plot to assassinate Bush reports

Bin Laden: Believed to have a network of guerrillas

MOSCOW, Russia -- Osama bin Laden has threatened to assassinate U.S. President George W. Bush at a G8 meeting in Italy, the head of Russia's Federal Bodyguard Service has said, according to reports.

The Associated Press said Yevgeny Murov was quoted by Itar-Tass news agency as saying: "Bin Laden is threatening the American president, but we know what international terrorism is today and therefore all the bodyguard units concerned are preparing for this.

"We view the threats as totally serious, but hope that with joint efforts we can solve all the problems."

The Group of Eight summit is meeting between July 20-22 in Genoa, Italy. Leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States are expected to attend the summit.

Missiles to protect summit leaders

Special report: globalisation

Rory Carroll in Rome
Wednesday July 11, 2001
The Guardian

Italy has installed a missile defence system at Genoa's airport to deter airborne attacks during next week's G8 summit, fuelling hysteria about looming violence.

A land-based battery of rockets with a range of nine miles and an altitude of 5,000 feet has been positioned in the latest security measure against perceived threats from terrorists and protesters.

Unidentified planes, helicopters and balloons risk being shot down should they drift too close to the heads of state from the group of seven leading industrialised nations and Russia.
Colonel Alberto Battaglini, of the ministry of defence, said the precaution was not exces sive. "The measure, which was planned by the previous government, may seem open to criticism, but in reality it is merely to act as a deterrent against any aerial incursion during the summit.

"They are little missiles ... which only have a deterrent function to discourage any aerial-led attack and they do not present any danger to the residents of the city," he said.

33. The Reich OWNS the Press
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 08:15 AM by Octafish
During Nixon's time, the big complaint from the right was how the "Liberal Media" brought down the original Crook. Hmmm. The claim is absurd, seeing how "Deep Throat" or whomever did the leaking and only a couple of papers (WP and, later, NYT) did the reporting. Anyway, the charge stuck that the media were biased Left. So, to ensure that situation would never happen, the Reich decided to rectify things rightward.

The Big Corporations bought every media property in sight and when they were done they started buying each other. Ben Bagdikian talked about it in the early 80s in "Media Monopoly," which chronicled the change in mass media ownership. Today, things are much worse, with six companies controlling the lion's share of what American's see and hear and read.

Remember Bill Casey, the CIA head who took the rap for Iran-Contra and then died on the operating table? He helped tiny Capital Cities buy big old ABC Television nutwork. Nice coverage of the Democrats and the issues since then, fellahs!

Anyway...There's still hope. Here's a site that may be new to some DUers that has some recent stories and how they're almost "disappeared" as far as the mainstream goes:

Media Lies and Right Wing Bias

There's stuff from Dick Cheney getting away with millions from Halliburton to the Smear Boat driver Corsi. It's good to see this stuff in print, even if electronic.

39. Agree. If they were professionals, there'd BE no BFEE.
The free press is the only business mentioned by name in the US Constitution (in the FIrst Amendment). The Founders understood its importance for the new nation. For a democratic republic to survive, an informed electorate is required. Thus, the BFEE bought the press -- or at least the corporations did, which is about the same thing.

These guys get it:

"Media criticism does exist in America. But by and large, it is not citizen-based criticism designed to make media a better source of information in a democracy. Instead, it is a cynical manipulation of the discourse designed to silence even the mildest dissent from the conservative, militantly pro-corporate dogma that has come to pass for news in an era when "reporters" brag about the size of their American-flag lapel pins."

32. Legalized Mass Robbery -- Pass The Loot On Up
The Foundation for Greater Prosperity?

Beyond Bush's Rhetoric on the Economy

More generally Professor Mankiw has apparently dropped the methodological and conceptual rigor of the academy and now fully embraced his role as cheerleader for the transfer of wealth currently masquerading as economic policy under the Bush Regime. Thus, rather than the more sober analysis that led him to label the Reagan supply-side advisors as "charlatans and cranks" in the first edition of his Principles of Economics textbook, Mankiw has now reverted to substituting the recitation of political codewords--"tax relief" and "double taxation"--for actual analysis.

A transfer of wealth

Alas, as Krugman notes, the core measures of the tax cuts are designed to benefit the very wealthy, not to stimulate the economy. In a penetrating article on "The Tax-Cut Con," Krugman writes that "The centerpieces of the 2001 act were a reduction in the top income-tax rate and elimination of the estate tax--the first, by definition, only benefiting people with high incomes; the second benefiting only heirs to large estates. The core of the 2003 tax cut was a reduction in the tax rate on dividend income."<8>

The latter has been given the political code name "double taxation," which we've seen Mankiw has now adopted. The double taxation argument holds no water, as dividends are just one of many ways in which monetary exchanges are taxed multiple times. For instance, individual income is taxed through payroll taxes, income taxes and sales taxes. And, furthermore, while corporate profits are increasingly untaxed due to various loopholes and tax breaks, only half of all Americans own any stock at all and those who do are largely invested in 401(k) plans that will not be affected by the dividend tax cut.

Reduction of taxes on dividends, like the elimination of the estate tax is part of a larger movement to shift the tax burden from the wealthy to the less well off--in this case it is a shift from taxes on wealth to taxes on work, as noted in a recent report by United for a Fair Economy.<9> This report also notes the shift of the burden on to future generations, citing a report by Citizens for Tax Justice that shows how the fiscal policies of the Bush Administration will impose an average debt of $13,000 per US citizen between 2002 and 2007.<10>

Of course, YOU have. But perhaps newer DUers and Visitors haven't heard how a Bush has never been elected fair and square to anything. In 1980, the record shows George H.W. Bush's INTEL connections helped arrange a deal with the Ayatollah Khomeini to hold the hostages until after the election, sinking Jimmy Carter's reelection. Gee. That's treason.

BTW: Had Carter been reelected, odds are this would be a very different world today. Carter had the US on track to become energy independent, investing R&D for alternate sources of energy. Carter's foreign policy was based on human rights, first and foremost. Ronald Reagan's? His was based on combatting terrorism. I kid you not.

45. The evidence is overwhelming. But they're winning the EMOTIONAL war.
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 02:25 PM by JohnOneillsMemory
The RNC convention in Nuremberg last week shows the power of the STRONG FATHER FIGURE for the masses, steadfast and unchanging tyranny is what a fearful propagandized population embraces and WELCOMES!

The White Hat Sheriff America of Cold War America has been replaced with Dirty Harry-the bad cop who gets his man BY IGNORING THE LAW.
"I won't ask for a permission slip to defend America."

The autonomy of America Uber Alles won't be stopped by the girlie-men of the UN, International Criminal Court, Geneva Conventions, OSHA or EPA. We now torture and kill prisoners, gotta problem with that, faggot? United We Stand Under God.

So the more we point out the impunity and lawlessness of the Repubs AND the permanent War Machine that is USA, Inc. THE MORE THE UNINFORMED MASSES EMBRACE the power implied in the winning values of 'their son-of-a-bitch' in the dog-fight over the bone called Planet Earth.

Read cognitive scientist George Lakoff's writing on the family as role model for 'Moral Politics' with the Strong Father figure being deified to eliminate the 'weak'.
(Lakoff on Framing and Family Values Manipulation)

Hitler knew it and exploited it. So do Repubs.

Being CORRECT won't help the Dems. The 'electorate' is like an abused wife who defends her abuser and won't break free despite others trying to rescue her. They are charged up by Ahnuld's muscles and wink at his assaults against women because they are POWER ADDICTS.

Thats why Ahnuld wanted his own Humvee after Gulf War I and Americans began theyre non-stop victory lap to the mall in military-styled SUVs and the absurd gas-guzzling Hummer, an advertisement for shock-and-awe available on monthly payments of justifications and complicity.

This interest in raw power is one of the indicators of a fascism-prone personality in this Fascism Receptivity test from the 1950s when social scientists studied why masses of people followed Hitler, Franco, Mussolini.
(The F-Scale Test and Key)

PEOPLE EMBRACE DICTATORSHIP TO ALLAY FEAR. AND WE AIN'T HELPING PEOPLE LOSE THEIR FEAR BY WARNING THEM OF THE TRUTH. In fact, many people affirm the ruthless militancy we are warning against.

It's like telling a teenager not to smoke because tobacco is dangerous. So they WANT to smoke to be rebellious, grab a rite of passage to adulthood, show willingness to take risks, etc.
They embrace precisely what they are warned against and are tricked into embracing their own abuse and powerlessness.

Here it is in Mein Kampf (1925)
"The masses of the people prefer the ruler to the suppliant and are filled with a stronger sense of mental security by a teaching that brooks no rival than by a teaching which offers them a liberal choice. They have very little idea of how to make such a choice and thus are prone to feel abandoned. Whereas they feel very little shame at being terrorized intellectually and are scarcely conscious of the fact that their freedom as human beings is impudently abused...physical intimidation has its significance for the mass as well as the individual...For the successes which are thus obtained are taken by the adherents as a triumphant symbol of the righteousness of their own cause; while the beaten opponent very often loses faith in the effectiveness of any further resistance."

I contend that the only way to re-direct the Uber Patriotism into healthy energy is to remind folks that America's Special Place in the Human Constellation Results from:

The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution Outlawing of Theocracy, Torture, Murder, Disappearance outside the law
by the Government
and Guaranteeing Dissent Activity.

We've got to invoke the American Revolution as still being fought against King George.

Thank you for your great post, JohnOneillsMemory! Later this evening, I'll post on here about "Maps v. Stories" and memory. I need to find some time to dig through the net.

My suggestion on this thread is "Bush is a CROOK!" From your excellent post, the case can be made that "Bush is a NAZI!" Perhaps you should start that one and we can do the piling-on.

Below is an author who you might enjoy who expands on the theme of class warfare in 1930s Germany. The parallels to America today are striking. Guess who's winning?

"Falsifying History and Ourselves": Anti-Democratic Propaganda in the Classroom

By John Spritzler
Aug 28, 2004, 14:20

A popular course in the United States for middle and high school students about the Holocaust gives a false account of anti-Semitism and related events in Nazi-era Germany carefully designed to drive home the lesson that most people are prone to bigotry and are a dangerous force. The course, called "Facing History and Ourselves" (FHAO), is funded by liberal foundations and corporations (and in the past, grants from the U.S. Department of Education) and wealthy individuals. It reaches one million students a year in schools across the country. Foundations and corporate leaders support "Facing History and Ourselves" because it helps discredit the central idea of democracy -- that ordinary people are fit to rule society.

FHAO's main resource book, Facing History and Ourselves: Holocaust and Human Behavior, is a 576-page collection of short readings and questions carefully selected to convey a negative view of people by lying about the facts. Contrary to the views promoted by FHAO, the true facts about Germany during the Holocaust show that 1) working class Germans fought the Nazis; 2) anti-Semitism did not come from ordinary people; and 3) anti-Semitism was a weapon used by Germany's industrial and aristocratic elite to attack not only the Jewish minority but the entire working class.

Facing History's discussion of resistance in Germany to the Nazis begins with an Einstein quote: "The world is too dangerous to live innot because of the people who do evil, but because of the people who sit and let it happen." The "Facing History" account claims that only a few isolated individuals resisted Nazism. The truth is quite different.

When the President of Germany appointed Hitler Chancellor on Jan 30, 1933, the Nazis had just suffered a major defeat in the national election. It had become clear that the Nazis could not out-poll their main opponents, the working class Marxist parties. Additionally, Nazi storm troopers were being physically attacked by workers in industrial centers and small towns across Germany. The elite installed Hitler as Chancellor because they feared that working class power was getting out of hand, and they were desperate to find a political leader who could lead the upper classes in a ruthless war against the working classes. Standard histories of this period, such as William Shirer's classic The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, describe how this happened.

Every time Germans had a chance to vote for or against Hitler, the great majority voted against him. Hitler ran for President in March, 1932 and got only 30% of the vote; in the run-off election the next month he got only 37%, versus 53% for the incumbent Field Marshal von Hindenburg. Nazi electoral strength peaked on July 31, 1932 when Nazi rhetoric about representing all Germans and not special interest groups lured some voters away from the numerous small, special-interest conservative parties. The Nazis won 230 out of 608 total seats in the Reichstag (parliament). But their main foes, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Communist Partyboth of which were led by Marxists and received mainly working class votesjointly captured 222 seats in the same election. Voting records show that the richer the precinct, the higher the Nazi vote.

47. This gives me some hope. Bullies removed changes baboon culture.
(No Time for Bullies, Baboons Retool Their Culture)

A group of baboons whose Type A Aggressive Bastard Males died off became much gentler and cooperative among themselves including between males and females.

Dominant baboons are vicious and they bully and terrorize those they dominate. So don't think that cruelty is some singular characteristic of evil human beings. It is part of nature and is therefore likely an aid to survival of some kind. It probably serves to better keep the herd together in a danger zone where strays and inattentiveness can make the group vulnerable to attack. It keeps the enemy-sensing alarm siren in the brain called the amygdala going off all the time like a burglar-alarm and induces vigilance and action unimpeded by thought, a playground for manipulation by demagogues.

Seems the role model War Chimp sets a tone of conduct for the society like a kind of Risk Weather Forcast To Plan By and it can change to a more peaceful nation with different role modeling. But fear is self-perpetuating unless acted on by significant new information such as power acting for the public good instead of just itself.

That's why JFK, RFK, and MLK were all shot down when peace movements almost won over the permanent military economy in the 1960s.

Scientists found this fear switch which politicians had already been using for centuries and haven't left alone in this one. But scientists won't alert the public to how they are routinely manipulated with theater, images, and language devices to control their behaviour and thinking.
(The TV Hive Mind - War of the Worlds Goes On)

Activists must expose these word weapons and show people the strings of misinformation and the narrative of American Military Empire being spun before us as an inevitable path for our nation.
