outright winner in the event that the delegates are split somewhat equally among several candidates.

The polls have four candidates above the 15% threshold, so a split is significantly more likely than an outright winner. It will be interesting to see how many of them actually end up at 15%+.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
