No one beyond a relative handful expects a second-tier candidate to win, but in supporting BS they can better claim the progressive high-ground as theirs at the expense of first-tier candidates without any measurable negative consequences from their own constituents.

It's not a bad move on their part, as BS's primary loss (just a guess) won't drag them down while their own constituency numbers may actually tick up.

If I were to vote in a presidential
