(560 posts)the racist half of his party, was an ardent free-trader, was a strident anti-communist who stood down the Soviets at every turn and blockaded their Cuban allies, escalated our involvement in Vietnam, appointed a justice who dissented on Roe v. Wade, attempted to rein-in non-military or NASA spending, supported oil and gas exploration, and generally governed non-ideologically (except as an anti-communist).
Kennedy was not considered a raging liberal in his day on any issue save race. And he even took a measured (some think too measured) approach on that issue. He certainly wouldn't be considered liberal in todays Democratic Party. And hed certainly be to the right of Biden. I admire Kennedy for his vision and boldness relative to his times. But he was not a 50s-60s version of Warren or Sanders.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
