8. My mom had a hip replacement about 8 years ago.

She was in her late 80s at the time, and she's still alive and kicking! (Okay, maybe not kicking, but she is 95 years old! She has balance issues unrelated to the hip, but a cane or walker or rollator helps with that.)

You'll be fine. As someone with health issues, I know that maintaining a positive attitude can really help with recovery. Listen to your favorite music, watch a funny movie or television show, read a cheery book while you're in recovery. I got through chemotherapy listening to a British radio comedy series called Cabin Pressure. Escaping your problems by letting your mind go somewhere else works wonders for me.
