People need free time, accessible communication and education to organize, and often in 'company towns' or increasingly 'company states', people are too haggard, being unemployed and wage slaves to be able to devote that time. And that is exactly the way Duke energy wants it. No differnt from the way that Carnegie's or the Rockefeller's ran things 100 years ago.
